Car history:

  • 1976 Brock at Le Mans.
    • car was bought in South Africa in late 1975 and shipped to Melbourne where it was completely stripped and rebuilt. His co-driver was former Aussie and UK resident Brian Muir with the BMW lasting 17 hours before a head gasket blew.
  • 1975 ETC winner
  • 1974 BMW Team car

History: Usually driven by Ickx and Bell. 1st ETC Saltzburgring. (3.5 litre 24 valve M49/2 engine). Later became the 1975 ETC Winner for Muller and Peltier and then Peter Brock Le Mans car [all sentence to be investigated]

Peter Brock history:

Peter Brock did attempt the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in privateer vehicles, firstly in 1976 in the Team Brock BMW 3.0CSL.

During this time Bill Patterson BMW purchased a South African race prepared BMW 3.5 CSL for Peter Brock to take and compete at the 1976 24hr Le Mans.

Malcolm Hanlon From what I gather it was owned by the UK's Tom Walkinshaw in his collection and then sold around 2009. Apparently it was then restored in UK and may have gone to USA.

Philip Schram Broke raced under number 46 at Le Mans in 1976. Not sure if it is his car, but rather Patherson's. Number 5 was a WM car.

Philip Schram Just trying to clarify: the car bears number 5. Bill Patterson was the sponsor. My assumption is that the photo is not from Le Mans.
